Eligibility for Lateral Entry Pay

Applicants must:

  • Be certified by the TCOLE at time of entry level written exam;
  • Have at least three (3) years of prior work experience with similar duties in a comparable municipal law enforcement agency with a population of no less than 15,000 residents;
  • Must not have a break in service as a Police Officer of more than 180 days, prior to the applicant’s examination date; and
  • Must successfully complete all civil service and/or internal hiring requirements.
